Welcome to our webpage, the Western Finland district of Finnish Red Cross! Red Cross is an international organisation that helps the ones in need all over the world. The basis of this work are our volunteers who are for example organizing fundraising, participating in first aid groups or keeping company for people who feel lonely. The volunteers of the Finnish Red Cross operate in over 500 branches across Finland. Under these branches, there are about 30 000 active volunteers and 80 000 members.

You are very welcome to join our chain of help!

One way of helping through the Finnish Red Cross is to become a member of the organisation. You can do it here. By the annual membership fee (for adult members 20 euros, for youth members under 30 years 10 euros) you can support the work that we are doing.

If you want to learn more about the volunteer work, please read more below!

Box collector

Volunteers register under this group collect donations during emergency collections and campaigns. The funds collected by box collectors allow the Red Cross to respond to the need of target groups quickly and efficiently. The need to collect donations is often used as a response to natural disasters, such as earthquakes or hurricanes. In addition to emergency collections, funds are collected during campaigns, the most important of which is the annual Hunger Day

Blood donation

Each day, ill and injured people need donated blood. Your blood can save a patient’s life.

For more information on how to donate blood, please visit the web page of The Blood Service https://www.bloodservice.fi/

Multicultural activities

The multicultural activities organized by the Finnish Red Cross bring together people from different backgrounds. As a volunteer, you can contribute in creating more equal and pluralistic society.

The Finnish Red Cross, Wertern Finland district, organises various multicultural activities that can fit your interest. Some of our activities include international clubs, friend visitor activity and first aid groups. None of the multicultural activities require any special skills – you are welcome to join regardless of your background. Every voluntary action is valuable and greatly appreciated.

Advocacy

We also involve volunteers in our advocacy works to bring change on selected areas. You can join, for example, in activities for the week against racism. Every year, you can involve in planning and implementing activities promoting tolerance and multiculturalism. The district will offer you the necessary training before your assignments.
