Join aid workers abroad

Red Cross aid workers work around the world and deliver aid to where it is needed the most. We are constantly complementing our personnel reserve with professionals from different fields, especially doctors and nurses, logistics and disaster preparedness experts, financial management, IT, communications and development cooperation professionals.

Finnish Red Cross deploys over one hundred professionals annually to work in emergencies, disaster areas and long-term development cooperation projects.

Finnish Red Cross aid workers receive a salary during their mission; the missions are not volunteer positions.

In the event of a disaster, a mission alert may come unexpectedly and departure can take place only on a day's notice. A mission proposal can be refused.

Aid workers are selected to missions from our personnel reserve, which can be joined after passing a one-week long basic training course “IMPACT” organised by the Finnish Red Cross. The training course language is English.
